  10     <p>The latest release is <b>4.00</b>.  This is a major upgrade
  11       which will require configuration files to be rewritten (there
  12       are tools to help with this).  As the first release of a major
  13       new version cautious users may wish to test carefully before
  14       moving to production services</p>

  16     <p>The latest 3.x release is <b>3.34</b>.  This is the latest bug fix
  17     release in the 3.3x series.  They are an incremental upgrade over
  18     the 3.2x series with a few new features.  There is a security
  19     issue (rare but exploitable) with versions previous to 3.34
  20     so upgrading is <b>strongly</b> recommended.
  21     Old 3.0x configuration files should be fully compatible.
  22     New features are documented in the CHANGES and NewStuff files.</p>

  24     <p>The previous 3.2x release is <b>3.22</b>.  This is an
  25     incremental upgrade with a small number of new features and some
  26     bug fixes, however old 3.0x configuration files should be fully
  27     compatible.  New features are documented in the CHANGES and
  28     NewStuff files Upgrading from previous releases is worth doing,
  29     particularly since a denial-of-service hole has been fixed over
  30     3.0x and lower versions.</p>

  32     <p>There were a number of early beta versions of exim with version
  33     numbers less than <b>1.0</b>.  These should now be avoided.
  34     Versions earlier than <b>2.0x</b> should also be upgraded.
  35     Version 3.0x and 3.1x releases are also best upgraded.</p>

  37     <p>There may be beta versions with available from the ftp sites in
  38     the Testing directory.  Many people are using these without
  39     problems, but they are not recommended unless you are willing to
  40     work with beta software.</p>
