<p>Exim is a message transfer agent (<b>MTA</b>) developed at the
University of Cambridge for use on Unix systems connected to the
Internet. It is freely available under the terms of the <b>GNU
General Public Licence</b>. In style it is similar to <b>Smail
- 3</b>, but its facilities are more extensive, and in particular it
- has some defences against mail bombs and unsolicited junk mail in
- the form of options for refusing messages from particular hosts,
- networks, or senders. It can be installed in place of sendmail,
- although the configuration of exim is quite different to that of
- sendmail.</p>

- An update to the system filter to protect broken MS mail
- clients from the real world has been produced. This protects

- BugTraq</A> where a long date string can subvert the client.

- It is not infallible, but many sites may find it useful.

+ <h2>Exim Course</h2>

+ <p>The University of Cambridge Computing Service is hosting a
+ seventh <a
+ href="http://www-tus.csx.cam.ac.uk/courses/exim/">course on the
+ Exim Mail Transfer Agent</a> on Tuesday 12th July to Friday 15th
+ July 2005 in Robinson College, Cambridge. The course has been
+ extended to 3 days. The course is suitable for those new to Exim
+ as well as more experienced users. In addition to Dr Philip Hazel,
+ there will be other external speakers.

+ There are security issues fixed in this version so all users are
